Ian’s busy week - Show to the farm back to the show

New York Yankees pitcher Ian Kennedy has had a busy schedule recently. Just last week the rookie pitcher, dubbed one of the big three, was demoted to the minor leagues. The minor league stint was expected to be for a few starts to regain his confidence and control. Two things, which the pitcher had lost to start the year. Well thanks to Kei Igawa that plan has already been scrapped.
Due to Igawa’s continued ineffectiveness against big league hitters, the Yankees have decided to call Ian Kennedy up already. He’ll be starting Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays. Kennedy will pitch today in Scranton’s doubleheader. He’ll start the first game and is only expected to go about an inning or so, that way he is ready for Thursday.
Kennedy threw 7 and 1/3 scoreless innings this past Tuesday, in his first start at Scranton Wilkes-Barre. It was a pretty impressive outing and showed why the Yankees are so high on this guy. The biggest thing out of this start thou, was the rookie’s confidence before and afterwards. “I woke up today and told my wife, ‘I have a feeling I’m just going to make these guys look stupid,’” said Kennedy, laughing. “I’m trying to say it humbly, it doesn’t matter.”
While Kennedy was dominating hitters in AAA, Kei Igawa was getting embarrassed by the Detroit Tigers, once again. Igawa started Friday and promptly gave up 11 hits and 6 earned runs, while pitching only 3 innings. Thankfully for us Yankees fans, that may be the last we see of him.
