Brady Quinn is as determined as ever to be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback in 2008. “If I’m not doing that, it’s a huge injustice to our team and to everyone else in our organization,” Quinn said at teammate Shaun Smith’s charity bowling event. “That’s the goal and that’s where I want to be.” Quinn has participated fully in all team off-season programs so far and plans on keeping that up. He’s even been working out pretty hard on his own to prepare for training camp. “That’s my thing,” he said. “I just try to outwork everyone.”

After receiving his big contract extension, Derek Anderson figures to have a lock on the teams starting QB job. At the recent NFL Owners meetings, GM Phil Savage said that Quinn “would really have to play lights out” or Anderson “would have to play really poorly” for the 2nd-year backup to overtake the starting job. Quinn knows that and its a good sign that he is still working out like he has a chance for that position. Quinn said: “The only thing I know is that it seems like there’s a little small window and all I need is a chance. It doesn’t matter how big it is, just give me a chance and I’m going to try to take advantage of it.”

This should be an entertaining battle come training camp. With two QB’s making starter money on the team, one is eventually going to have to go. Could Quinn’s hard work pay off and maybe get him a trade to a team he could start of? It’s possible. Could it force the team to trade Anderson? Definitely, possible. Thats long term thinking thou, personally I feel both QBs will be with the Browns through the end of the 2008 season, no matter how either plays. Now could there be controversy between the two? That is probably the most likely, just look at other teams when they’ve had two very capable signal callers. Talking to Quinn thou, there is no problems between the guys. “We have a great quarterback room,” he said.

As a Notre Dame fan, I can’t wait to see Quinn get a chance to shine!
