Billick close to being broadcaster, rips Eagles fans

Former Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick is close to becoming a broadcaster for either FOX or CBS next season. His first order of business was to rip into Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins fans. In today’s talk, he asked if there were any fans of the Eagles, in response to them he said “I’m wearing my Super Bowl ring, something that you’ve never seen before”
Ok Eagles fans don’t go getting all riled up this was a joke he made in a lecture today at Towson University. Billick was invited to speak before a communications class today and began his day off with a few jokes. First he got on the Washington Redskins fans by saying, “You Redskins fans keep your dang questions to yourself.” He followed that up with his comment for the Eagles fans. Just a couple jokes to lighten the crowd up before getting on topic, nothing new. Personally, I do find it kind of funny even thou I’m sure a few of you Philly guys are pretty mad right now and saying “F U BILLICK!”
So on to the real topic, Billick’s conversation with the students. In today’s lecture, he mentioned how he still has the strong desire to coach but will most likely be accepting a position at either FOX or CBS. He says the position will not be studio, it will be a game analyst spot. “It will be too detached from the game for me. I have no doubt that in the end, I would say, ‘This is not what I want to do,’” he said. “I’ve never done that [game analyst], but it looks like I will be given that opportunity and we’ll see if it will engage me and keep me close enough to the game without the day-to-day grind that coaching does.”
On a side note, since being let go by the Ravens, Billick took a trip to Iraq to visit troops. Like you hear about from most who’ve made the trip, it’s left a big impact on him, particular one soldier. It was a soldier from the Baltimore area, who’s job is to drive the lead convoy between Baghdad and Kuwait City detonating road-side bombs. Billick asked the soldier, when he gets back to the states next month, whether his first action would be to have a beer. The response?
“Sir, I’m not old enough to drink,” Billick recalled the soldier telling him.

Pompous or not, Billick can coach. I would love to see him in Chicago after the Bears realize that Lovie Smith is a clown. Unfortunately, Billick won’t be unemployed that long.
Oh, and Philly fans deserve to be ripped!
I was a big Billick supporter and sad to see him go; however, I wish him the best and know that he’s driven, and will be a great success wherever he lands. He’s a good man.
