Mariners, Reitsma still at odds

The Seattle Mariners and Chris Reitsma are still at odds. Reitsma is still not willing to accept his assignment to AAA-Tacoma. On the other side, the Mariners still aren’t willing to give him his release like he wants. The team holds all the chips in this battle and its very unlikely for Reitsma to get his way.
The Mariners signed Reitsma to a minor league contract this off-season, so they hold his rights regardless of what he does. If Reitsma decides not to show up to Tacoma soon then the Mariners will consider putting him on the restricted list. When a player goes on the restricted list, he’s not allowed to play for any other team and his current holder can withhold payments.
One of these 2 sides will eventually give in, I doubt its the Mariners thou. Reitsma should just wise up and go to minor league camp and continue his rehab if he ever wants to pitch again.
