Lidge returning to the mound

Good news for Philadelphia Phillies fans, Brad Lidge may be read for opening day. The closer said he hopes to throw off a mound on Monday for the first time since having arthroscopic surgery on his knee. He feels that his recovery is going right on schedule and that he should be able to throw Monday and see game action by the 17th of March. If he does get in to a game on the 17th, and suffers no setbacks along the way, he would have two weeks to get ready for the season. For a closer, thats more then enough time to get into game shape. So he could conceivably be in Philadelphia on opening day closing out a Phillies win.
“Obviously, everything has to keep going right like it has gone so far,” Lidge said. “But if it does, I’m still assuming and being optimistic about the start of the season. They originally said three weeks before I’m back in games, and it kind of looks like it definitely could be the case.”
