Eagles shopping Lito

Rumors have been flying out of Philadelphia, that the Eagles are shopping Lito Sheppard after last night’s signing of Asante Samuel. No surprise there really. The biggest rumor has been that the Eagles are going to send Lito and ??? to the Arizona Cardinals for Larry Fitzgerald. Guess what Eagles fans? It’s HIGHLY unlikely, its just another one of those local philly rumors that are born in fantasy land.

It is true that the Eagles have approached the Cardinals. That much is true! Arizona RM Rod Graves on Thursday the rumors about a deal “nothing but smoke”. Graves actually said the team has been in negotiations with Fitzgerald’s agent about keeping him in Arizona long-term. He’s a player that Arizona can’t lose and you know what Larry actually wants to stay in the desert. “I’m not looking to be traded. I don’t want to be traded,” Fitzgerald said to ESPN.com in a chat last night.

There are other teams interested in Lito, who wouldn’t? When he’s healthy and on his game he’s a solid corner. A team that could be really interested would be the New England Patriots, they having a gaping hole at the corner back position now. A trade would be good for the Eagles in the fact that they can either move up in the draft or just fill some more holes. I still feel keeping him would be just as valuable thou as 3 solid corners would be a big plus. A team that loves to blitz could blitz even more with 3 shut down corners.
