Vilma close to being a Saint

So every five minutes it changes where this guy is going to go. Last two days its been Jonathan Vilma to the Detroit Lions in almost every report. But thats the beauty of this week, no deal is official till midnight Friday. The latest rumor comes from the New Orleans Times-Picayune, that says the New Orleans Saints are close to acquiring the middle linebacker from the New York Jets. The deal could be announced later tonight or sometime Friday afternoon.

Other teams that looked into Vilma were the Washington Redskins but they never got truly into the mix. The Lions have been all over Vilma but don’t really have what the Jets are looking for and thats draft picks. The Jets are building this crappy team up and need as many as possible. The Saints on the other hand are more willing to deal picks, Newsday is assuming the Saints will send a 3rd round draft pick to the Jets.
