Looks like there is no doubt that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DJ Hackett becomes an unrestricted free agent Friday. And its pretty likely that he won’t be playing in Seattle next season. Hackett’s agent Kevin Robinson and Seahawks GM Tim Ruskell had a meeting recently at the NFL Scouting Combine which didn’t go to well. Robinson left that meeting pretty discouraged about the lack of commitment the team has to their former 5th round draft pick.
“We are going to test the market,” Robinson said. “I won’t rule out Seattle as a destination but we are going to test the market and see what’s out there.” So what teams could have interest in Hackett? Hackett has played his entire career in the West Coast offense, so you’d have to think a west coast styled team would suit him best. That would be the Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, and maybe even the wide receiver starved Philadelphia Eagles.
The main concern surrounding Hackett will be his health. He only played in 6 games last season due to multiple high ankle sprains then missing the second half of the season due to a knee injury. If he can prove to teams he’s healthy he can be a VERY valuable commodity as he did have over 30 catches in just 6 games this season.
