Buffalo Bills J.P. Losman is entering the last year of his initial rookie contract that he signed as a 1st round pick in the 2004 season. Well he has asked to be traded now, no surprise there since he has already made it known that he plans on leaving Buffalo when the deal expires and shoot for a starting job elsewhere. The Bills on the other hand would love to just keep him around one more year at a cheap salary.
So on to the trade possibilities, two teams have already inquired about his services. The Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins have all talked to the Bills during this weeks NFL Scouting Combine. It’s not really known what the Bills would be looking for but it might wind up being a MLB type trade where the team wants to just get something instead of letting a player walk in free agency.
For the Dolphins, well they need almost everything, so Losman could literally walk in and probably start right away. For the Chiefs, Losman would be in direct competition with Brodie Croyle, which might be what Croyle needs to light a fire under his ass and get him to finally perform.
But the wild card is always does coach Dick Jauron want to just keep J.P. around and have a back-up who is extremely cheap with game experience. Trent Edwards did do well last year but injuries can happen on any snap and take him out for the year. Personally, I don’t think a deal will happen before training camp. Late training camp, early in the season thou well thats a possibility.
