It looks like the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions are working on another off-season deal. I say another because last year the two teams made a deal involving Dre Bly and Tatum Bell.. This year, could Shaun Rogers be heading to Denver? It sure is likely, the lines would like to deal Rogers within the next few days, or at least very early into the free agency period. Another stipulation is that the Lions really want to deal him outside of the NFC, where they won’t have to deal with him as often.
The Denver Broncos are currently the front runner. Denver currently needs help at the defensive tackle position, which would make Shaun Rogers a decent option. The Lions asking price would most likely be a second or third round draft pick for the 7 year veteran. There is rumored to be a second team in the running but Detroit officials will not say who, but its speculated to be another team in the AFC West. I have a feeling it would be the Oakland Raiders.
If a deal happens it looks like Detroit really just wants to wash their hands of Rogers and move on to the future. For Denver this would be a great deal. Coach Mike Shananan has a knack for getting players to perform for him, and the sometimes lazy Rogers would most likely change his attitude fast in Denver. Shaun would take care of a major Broncos need and with him still performing at a higher level he should strengthen that line big time. Last season he had 7 sacks, 1 int, and 39 tackles.
