Here’s an update on Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Brad Lidge injury situation that we reported on yesterday. Lidge will be undergoing surgery tomorrow in Philadelphia. The injury is not to severe thou which is a good thing. Because of that you can be assured Brett Myers is staying in the Phillies rotation. That is definitely a good thing for the team and its title starved fans.
Lidge only has a couple small tears in the league, they won’t say where thou. All he is having thou is his knee scoped and they will go in clean those tears up and within a week he’ll be up and working out. “The scope has a pretty fast recovery time,” Lidge said. “Ideally, if everything went right I wouldn’t miss any of the season. That’d be a good 4 1/2 weeks (away). But that’ll be based on how it feels, obviously. Right now, if this came up again during the season and we had to do it then, then you’re obviously missing a big chunk of the season rather than a big chunk of spring training.”
According to Lidge, the surgery only has 1 week down-time. After that, you can start working out and throwing again. So thats great news, if he misses any time it would be the first week or two of the season. In that span, Tom Gordon would close as needed.
