So the Chicago Bears have decided to bring back Rex Grossman. Who knows why? Maybe, they aren’t ready to give up on the kid just yet. I mean really he did just bring them to a Super Bowl two seasons ago. O wait a minute no he didn’t, Brian Urlacher and the defense did that. So lets see , it is only a 1 -year contract at $3 million, with only $1.5 million guaranteed.
Well guess what he’s not getting cut in training camp no matter what. With that much guaranteed he’ll play out the year. What I think we’ll happen is at some point in the draft the Bears draft a QB, or they make a trade or free agent move to get an experienced one. If they do, Grossman then comes a relatively cheap back-up who has big game experience, even thou it didn’t go well. If no QB moves are made, the Chicago Tribune believes Kyle Orton will be given all the chances in the world to win that job in camp.
The one player you can expect to be cut thou is Brian Griese. I know right, who really cares that he goes bye bye. While many of you Bears fans are upset Grossman is back, it’s not that bad of a thing. It’s only one season, he doesn’t perform this time he’ll never be back. If that mental clock goes off and it all clicks then he’s played himself into a long-term deal.
My prediction, he’s a third-stringer fighting for a back-up job somewhere else next year.
