According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta Falcons may soon be going through a radical roster change. The AJC, conducted interviews with NFL Officials and players agents of the Falcons and they believe there will be many veterans cut, including some major surprises.
First move, FS Chris Crocker whose contract is expiring and will not be re-signed. Another rumors is that SS Lawyer Milloy will be waived. If this is true it will take away the team’s defensive leader as well as leaving them no starting safety.
Other players who could be on the chopping block include OL Wayne Gandy, Kynan Forney and Todd Weiner. , WRs Joe Horn and Brian Finneran. Now the surprises, HB Warrick Dunn, as well as both QBs Joey Harrington AND Byron Leftwich. Five-time pro bowler LB Keith Brooking could also be gone.
The biggest surprise to me is Warrick Dunn, who really doesn’t have much left in the tank anyways but still a shock. He’s in the final year of his contract and will have a $6.3 million cap hit if he plays. New offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey might not even have room for Dunn in his offensive schemes.
Lots of changes will be happening in Atlanta this year, and all I can say is they need them. not even worth saying is this a good one or a bad one, cause its just something that has to happen throughout the entire organization. It’s a team in deep need of a lot of things.
